El everlasting fight

Cory S Klomp

Refran: "When society turns a blind eye to the homeless, e

mpathy fades and compassion withers away."

Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on the problem with homelessness. I chose homelessness as a subject matter because it is a worldwide problem that is affecting many people The colors in the piece represent how the shelters look and how they are not perfect in any way. The images in the piece represent the inside of the shelter and how cramped it is, it also represents that there is not enough space for everyone to fit into the shelters. For me personally, this card represents hope because this is something that can be fixed . I want the audience to see the struggle with homeless people and how they have nowhere to stay.

Student Biography: My name is Cory Klomp, and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my aunt. I have 3 sisters and 2 half-brothers My family is from Fresno CA. In my Loteria card, I chose to represent homelessness. What inspired me to draw my Loteria card was when I lived in San Diego, downtown would be flooded with homeless people and nowhere for them to stay. The artistic process was fun, I was able to express my feelings with art and show others how I feel. My plans after high school are going to a 4-year university where I’m going to major in computer science then find a Job after I graduate college.
