El racismo

Ariana Gonzalez-Pozos

Refran: "They point and laugh at me like I'm not human, I can't anymore, please acknowledge me, save me."

Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on racism. I chose as a subject matter because it is a serious problem that needs to be stopped. The colors in the piece represent loneliness and sadness. The images in the piece represent someone being mistreated, being treated as if they aren't human. For me personally, this card represents someone in need of help, someone wanting to be saved. I want the audience to see that we need to stop discrimination, we are all equal and need to support each other.

Student Biography: My name is Ariana Gonzalez and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my mom, dad, and sister. My family is from Mexico. In my Loteria card I chose to represent racism. I chose to draw this Loteria card because people don't understand how a person going through racism might feel. I want to send awareness to stop racism through my drawing hoping that people change their attitudes towards people of color. The artistic process was very entertaining, I enjoyed it very much. Life after high school will probably be difficult but I will try my best to become what I want to be.
