La victima is a woman who represents the suffrage of being around machismo. The loteria card represent the cultural problem of machismo, especially in the city of México where I used to live before. Machismo is a huge cultural problem in where involves the way of how males feel superior over women. La victima represents the pain of being the victim of this issue, the painting has a woman in the center of a dark place which can be represented as their mind, the woman has a blind fold which represents the way of how she is so used to it that she can only covered her eyes and continue with this life style, she also has bruises which represent the type of violence that she is getting and the dress, is symbolic if we talk about machismo because it has been told to every woman that I know of, that whatever it happens to her that associated to machismo was their fault for the way they were dressed, such as like wearing a dress or skirts. The refran basically says how even though it is a painful path while dealing with machismo in their life’s, their heart will still shine in the way that they can get help and get better.
