Student Biography: My name is Nancy Solano I live in Santa Maria, and I come from a family of 8. I really enjoy doing makeup one my free time and hanging out with my friends and family. After graduation I hope to attend Allan Hancock college and major in the medical field. The message I tried to convey through my artwork and refran was that you truly don’t know what is paying for your “dinner” when you’re surrounded in such a violent environment it can be your own family participating in such crimes in order to give back to their family doing wrongfully things to others, without you having an idea because with you they tend to be someone different from their “second life” you can say. I included a father spending time with his daughter having some good time together in a park with the light blue theme as the background because it shows a more happy, delightful scenery as if everything seems fine when in reality he had just murdered three innocent people due to it being his job and the way he chose to provide for his daughter which then I drew a dark grey cloud over them with him and the three victims. I chose a grey background because it’s a very dark subject and has a sad ending to their lives. The daughter represents how unaware you can be of these things when it can be happening within your family without you knowing because of what they want and don’t want you to know, the victims represent the residents in the cities being targeted. These elements helped me achieve my message because these are real life situations that are happening as of now. My sources influenced my artwork because it gave me a better understanding of what is happening, and it helped me shed some light to this sensitive topic which helped me put what I understood in a painting.
