EL OPPRESSOR
Angel I. Gonzalez
Grade: 12
Card Number: 23
Refran: "through unity we shatter the oppressive haunting dreams and stand united as there is no room for regret as our voices are the chorus of change"
Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on oppression I feel as if this topic isn't talked about as much as seen right now the current topic is a sensitive subject as there are many people who feel oppressed or trapped a certain way. Oppression for me can mean a lot of things and I know it can mean many various things for others. One of the main reasons I chose this subject matter is because I know many people who've been oppressed for long periods. What is being shown on the card is a shoe or boot stepping on top of a person specially one of elderly who is unable to attain and take care of themselves showing how vast oppression can be it mainly targets the younger and elderly as they are most vulnerable to exploit. Same goes for woman, The card mainly represents my father as he was broken when he got to the states and the things he'd have to do to make it to here where we are is unimaginable he was beaten and treated to harsh punishments for stepping out of line. I didn't really have a reason to paint my card a certain color mainly painted it for looks but now looking back I should have. I really want others or my audience to see this card to see that people are variable from all forms of oppression and exploitation, And we should stand or make a difference in this world. If you look to the past of human history most of it has been of a sole leader ruling over others but now withing this century we have the opportunity to change that and ensure it does not happen. I want others to learn that no matter what you should never take advantage of another human for your own personal gain as you are not only exploiting them but encouraging them it leading to you or others gaining political influence leading to them being tyrants affecting others' lives as currently seen with Russia or other example Palestine being oppressed.
Student Biography: Hello my name is Angel Issac Gonzalez I’m currently a senior at Santa maria high school California, And am of Mexican heritage, I have 1 sister, and brother my brother being 21 and sister being 18, My brother is currently hoping to gain a degree in psychology and nursing while my sister is planning on gaining a degree in cooking me I have other big goals for my future after high school, I plan on enlisting within a branch of the military right after high school to serve my country and protect others who can not protect themselves in other country’s hopefully somewhere in the middle east since I know a lot of people there need our help, I plan on enlisting within the united states national guard to assist and help others or the united states marine crops. Afterwards I have served the minimum of 4-8 years I plan to come back and gain a degree in either the medical field or law, to try and make a change in this world by either saving others lives or enforcing laws and regulations and keeping those from harms. From there I’d be happy enough to serve until I retire although I know plans don’t always go to according so I have no idea what to expect after high school, hopefully after I pass my training and qualifications ill be able to get deployed to a foreign country and help as many others as possible etc, Thus bringing me back to my loteria card subject the current problems in the middle east are terrifying there’s elderly and children suffering at the hands of a oppressor and I feel that it is my job or duty to assist them and try to help them as much as possible, If I decide to return from this line of work I will hopefully gain a medical bachelor’s degree or a degree In criminal justice to serve my community as they have served me making this world and nation a better place for the very people I love and appreciate.
